Valentines Day is for suckers

Here we go again. Another Valentine’s Day or as I call it a day for SUCKERS. Valentine’s Day is a day for some women to hold men hostage for “A RING”. A few women will receive roses, that will dry up and die just like the relationship they are in. The majority of women who get excited on Valentine’s Day, due so because this is the only day out of an entire year when their partner will express love towards them.

My hope for women on this Valentine’s Day is for them to know their own worth, and stop measuring how someone else sees their value. Women of all ages must understand the value of self-love rather than waiting for someone to show love to them. You are more precious than any DIAMOND RING. You have a beauty that Surpasses the life of any ROSE. Don’t buy into the myth that Valentine’s Day is that one special day to show your loved. The Bible says that” Love is patient, Love is kind, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. It always protects, always trusts, always……..

What say you?

Thoughts from the Mad Dater

blog 7-01

Its Sunday, a beautiful warm spring day in New York City.  There are many events taking place throughout the five boroughs. I want to go out and explore, instead of staying home alone doing the same old things. While writing this  I am sitting in my back yard, sipping coffee, and reminiscing about the things I miss about having Him in my life. Things like planning date night or a weekend getaway. The excitement of time spend with Him deepening  the bond between us. I miss having Him make the coffee, and cooking weekend breakfast together. Doing the Sunday Times crossword puzzle with Him, instead of with the computer or dictionary.

Today is a good day for strolling through the park or a street fair holding hands with Him. I miss eating brunch and laughing at His corny jokes.. I don’t get flowers anymore, of course I buy them for myself; but,  I miss getting flowers from Him just because…. I’ve spent many weekends, Valentines days, holidays, weddings and other family gathers, watching couples smiling, laughing, sharing warmth and love; and I wonder, when will I meet the one that is just right for me? To hug Him at the end of  the day, to have His smile greet  me at the start of the day. Him, my best friend, confidant, my road dog, partner in crime, my equal, my lover, and husband. Him.

Dear Readers, if you have that someone special in your life, never take them for granted, love and always forgive the little things, hold hands, share hugs when ever possible, remember why you were attracted to them, and make every moment count because LONELINESS IS A KILLER.

WHAT SAY YOU?

My Bleeding Heart.

Valentines-Day

Dear Readers,

Valentine’s Day the day, some women hold men hostage for “A RING,” and a few women will receive roses that will dry up and die. Some women get excited on Valentine’s Day because this is the only day out of an entire year when their partners make an extra effort to express love. Women need to discover their worth and stop determining their worthiness by other people’s opinions. Women must understand the value of self-love rather than waiting for a man to show them love. We are more precious than any DIAMOND RING, and our inner and outer beauty surpasses the life of any ROSE. Many women believe Valentine’s Day is that one special day to express love. Actually, it is another commercialized day to encourage people to part with their money all in the name of “Love.” On this day of “Love” women, have unrealistic expectations that they think will last a lifetime. They are not solely to blame for their behavior. There are women in  society who have not received the proper guidance from their mothers because they lacked knowledge and guidance about self-love. Hence, the cycle of women participating in dysfunctional relationships continues because no one has taught them how to break the “generational curse. “Read “The Waiting Game.”

One woman’s journey of heartache and brokenness to healing and redemption.

What’s Love Got To Do With This?

“The Great Valentine’s Day Myth” posted Feb 9, 2015 on dragthepen.wordpress.com expressed my idea that V-Day is for suckers due to despairing and frantic lovers hoping  that cupids  arrow will pierce the hearts of their mates and inspire a marriage proposal or help to rekindle the lack of romance in their dead relationships.  Because of that blog post and the comments, “The Great Valentine’s Day Myth” revived a creative voice that had been silent for years.

Fast forward ten months later; my blog  has 953 viewers and counting. I have a video on You Tube “What to do about Haters,” published an academic paper and created my first portfolio. I have completed my memoir “The Waiting Game,” a reminisce about my past relationships, due date mid-march 2016, on amazon.com. Talk about having your cake and eating it to, I am scheduled to appear on the Tate Show filmed in California for a reading from my book, and I am looking forward to my interview on Books and Banter. All of this happened while I kept my feet on the ground and stayed faithful to my one true love teaching.

So what’s next? Glad you asked. Moving forward and launching into the deep, meaning, hiring a graphic designer and going public with my blog.  In 2016, my blog posting will focus on the theme of each month starting with Black History month in Feb, Women’s History month in March and so on until I have completed the year.

I am thankful for all the people who supported me through all my many writing projects. One of my strongest supporters once said to me “I should never wait for people to give me opportunity I must create my own,” Well lauriana as you can see I did.

Carpe Diem

Happy New Year
